Complacency - the cholesteral of change
I was recently watched a conversation between a 26 year old and a 45 year old about change. It was like a young gorilla challenging a silver back. There is something to be said for youth, but I have to admit, I don't want to ever be too old to change or welcome change.
I am too old (42 in human years) to fight some battles, but there are still far too many to lay down now. So at the risk of falling, I am going to go out on a limb and say that I still have some fight left in me. I feel like Rocky 4. I am not giving up yet.
God is so longing to find people who will speak His words and express His heart. Some of those words aren't easy. Some of His heart is not popular. The "church" is missing the boat and as a pastor, I hate to admit it, but it's about time to jump ship.
I watched the movie, "Luther" the other day and I was amazed at the life of Martin Luther. He wrestled with God. He struggled with faith. He hated the abuses the church was exacting on people in the name of God and he wanted to both know God and make Him known. His 95 theses were a confession of truth, but a slap in the face of organized religion.
It's time for a new Wittenberg Door movement. My next entry will be my 95 Theses for the modern church.
